Pass it Around

"If I made records for my own pleasure, I would only record Charley Patton songs." - Bob Dylan

Advance Word Bobby Charles on Rhino Handmade Limited Edition

Cajun Bobby Charles, the "Hellacious" songwriter (Levon Helm) will have a major release on the Rhino Handmade label soon. One of my personal heroes and one of the greatest unknown singers of the 20th century. As a kid, he was signed to Chess Records because they thought he was black based on a demo! Swamp-Pop extraordinaire and shy wonder.

Available for Pre-order now, the triple CD will include tracks recorded by the reclusive genius who wrote
"See You Later Alligator" and "Walking to New Orleans" and who recently passed away. The tracks include many recorded in Woodstock with members of The Band (Levon, Danko and more) as well as Dr. John and a 30 minute interview. Finally, we all get to know what the members of the Band knew. Rhino Handmade discs are usually released in numbered, limited editons of a few thousand, so you'all might want to get in on it now.

Here is a rare clip of Bobby singing with the Band from the Last Waltz, a segment which didn't make the final cut.
