Pass it Around

"If I made records for my own pleasure, I would only record Charley Patton songs." - Bob Dylan

Ida Red "Goes Electric" Bob Wills, Chuck Berry and Bob Dylan plug in.

For those of you scholars who continue to believe Bob Dylan changed the world (or even that it was a big deal) when he "went electric" here is Bob Wills doing Ida Red (the song Chuck Berry based Maybellene on, and his song's original title until Leonard Chess told him he had to change it...)

Ida Red was first recorded in 1924 as a fiddle tune, and recorded by Bob Wills (in the version likely heard by Mr. Berry) in 1938.  Both "rocked-up" the folk song long before Newport, and as you can see (considerably) the electric guitar figures in the production.  I guess Bob Wills and Chuck Berry "Went Electric" too, eh? It's all music.
